ABOUT

3D and Outdoor Target

Spring changes our focus to 3D and Outdoor Target shooting. The 3D round is an outdoor round based on the ASA competition format. Our focus at practice shifts to shooting varying distances, identifying target area, dealing with lighting and wind conditions, as well as being conscious of the path an arrow travels to the target. Range etiquette and scoring procedures for this competition format are also practiced.

Archers and their families participate in a number of 3D shoots hosted by local conservation and archery clubs throughout the summer to enhance their abilities to deal with varying outdoor conditions.

Archers interested in competition are eligible to attend local club, State, and National S3DA 3D Tournaments.

The Outdoor Target rounds are based on the USA Archery competition format. These events have the archers shooting at a stationary target face at long distances of up to 60 meters depending on competition class. This event becomes popular with high school archers looking to join a collegiate archery program.
